Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears Info

Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears are a seven-piece rock 'n' roll band formed in Austin, TX in 2007. They signed to Lost Highway Records in early 2008, and have released two albums (2009's Tell 'Em What Your Name Is! and 2011's Scandalous). Influenced by acts like James Brown, Howlin' Wolf, Iggy Pop, and the Dead Boys, Lewis and his band combine classic R&B with hill country blues, 60's garage rock, and 70's punk. The band tours relentlessly and has opened for a diverse selection of bands including the New York Dolls, Dave Matthews Band, Passion Pit, Spoon, Lucero, and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. Led by Lewis and rhythm guitarist Zach Ernst, the Honeybears also feature Bill Stevenson on bass, Matt Strmiska on drums, Joe Woullard on baritone sax, Derek Phelps on trumpet, and Jason Frey on tenor sax.
