Duane Denison Info

Best known for his cutting edge guitar work with legendary confrontational punk outfit The Jesus Lizard, Duane Denison is one of rock's most accomplished yet oft-overlooked guitarists. Surprisingly, Denison's early musical interest wasn't punk rock; he earned a degree in classical guitar at Eastern Michigan University, co-founded the avant jazz group Denison Kimball Trio, and even studied with renowned classical guitarist Christopher Parkening.

Duane currently plays for reunited supergroup Tomahawk—also featuring frontman Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantômas), drummer John Stanier (Helmet, Battles) and bass player Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas)—was the guitarist for Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers, and served as the touring guitarist for Hank Williams III from 1999 through 2001.

“I really like the strings. Great feel, tone, etc. I'm 100% a convert now. I'll play those fuckers from one end of the planet to the next, and if anyone asks, I'll tell 'em Dunlop Rules!"
