Kelby Ray / The Cadillac Three Info

Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Kelby Ray is a self-taught guitarist who started at age 13. He began doing live shows and sessions in Nashville in 1996, playing rhythm guitar for singer/songwriter Ruby Amanfu, while playing lead guitar with various local bands. In 2003, Kelby went on tour as the lead guitarist for singer/songwriter Jeremy Lister and maintained a busy schedule doing hired gigs and sessions. He joined Nashville rock band Bang Bang Bang in 2005 as rhythm guitarist, and then spent a few years playing bass guitar for Warner Bros. rock band American Bang. After American Bang, Kelby forged a new style of playing the lap steel guitar, combining the bass guitar and rhythm guitar into one instrument with the aid of two volume pedals and a split signal. He picked up bass-lap steel guitarist duties in Nashville band The Cadillac Three (formerly The Cadillac Black) in 2011, and the band signed with Big Machine Label Group in early 2013. Kelby Ray has extensively toured the United States and has shared the stage with big name bands including Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Black Crows, ZZ Top, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, and The Pretenders.
