Throughout the course of his career bass as a bass player, composer, arranger and musical director for an amazing array of artists, Oskar Cartaya has soaked up the influences of Puerto Rico, New York and Los Angeles. Some of Oskar's credits include the production of Herb Alpert's Passion Dance (Almo Records) and Jennifer Lopez's concert DVD Plenarriquea (Sony Music); tours with a plethora of artists including Steve Winwood, Spyro Gyra, the late Tito Puente, and, most recently, two time Grammy nominee Obie Bermudez; a stint as the bassist for TV's Show Time at The Apollo; composer and arranger for the Jodie Foster film Contact; producer of the soundtrack for the movie Wedding Bell Blues; and player on Grammy Winning albums for Arturo Sandoval, Willie Colon and Spyro Gyra. When serving as a band leader, he is surrounded his band the Enclave, which Oskar describes as a musical play on words, "The voice of a culture from within the boundaries of America, and a musical expression played en clav," he says. "Our sound is a gumbo of jazz and funk, Afro-Caribbean percussion and urban street soul attitude."
