Robert Randolph Info
Robert Randolph picked up his love of the pedal steel guitar through the church he attended as a kid, where pedal steel was part of the musical tradition. He grew up listening solely to church music, but at age nineteen he attended a Stevie Ray Vaughn concert, and immediately knew that he wanted to expand from the Sacred Steel tradition and take his instrument in a new direction. Fast forward a few years, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band are everywhere, playing their famously raucous live shows with artists as diverse as Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, and the Roots, and making records with T-Bone Burnett at the helm. In 2003 Rolling Stone named Robert Randolph one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.
