The 2016 Winter NAMM Show kicks off today at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California, and we’re showing off a ton of great new gear. Here’s a sample of what’s coming in 2016.
Keep your instruments pristine and protected with Dunlop’s new Platinum 65™ series of professional grade care products. We took a cue from the automotive care industry, harnessing Montan wax—its latest innovation—as the Platinum 65 line’s key ingredient. Montan wax is a fossilized plant wax prized for its ease of use and deep glossy shine.

Dunlop has provided musicians with so many amazing tools for so long that it’s hard to remember a time when that wasn’t the case. It’s also easy to forget that this company doesn’t just have a man’s name—it was actually named after a man. And 50 years ago, that man was perceptive enough to see a need in the marketplace, smart enough to be able to design and build a product to fill that need, and fearless enough to think that he could sell that product to millions of musicians. It was indeed that fearless and adventurous spirit that brought Jim Dunlop to the US from Canada in the 1960s. As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, Jim and his son Jimmy sat down with us to talk about our company’s beginnings and most important milestones.
Let’s break down the three major capo types so you can choose which capo is right for you.

The Capo/Slide Converter allows players to turn any guitar into a slide guitar. It can be used like any elastic capo, but its innovative design also allows you to raise your guitar’s string action so you can play buzz-free with a slide. The Capo/Slide Converter eliminates the need to carry around a separate guitar dedicated to slide playing, and with no more trouble than it takes to attach an elastic capo to your fretboard.
We sat down with inventor Ken Davidson and Jim Dunlop to talk about what went into designing the Capo/Slide Converter.
Dunlop knows slides — we make them in more materials, shapes, and sizes than anyone else, for a total of 57 different models. Why so many? When choosing a slide, players have to consider not only the material, which affects your sound, but also the shape and size so they can play comfortably and […]
Dunlop is the number one pick manufacturer in the world. We didn’t reach that spot by treating picks as an afterthought—they’re as important to your sound as your pickups or your amp. We’re always experimenting with new formulas and shapes so we make sure every player’s need is well-accounted for. We sat down with CEO Jimmy Dunlop, our pick guru, for some insight into our pick-making and pick design process.
From his distinctive look to his timeless riffs and unmistakable tone, Slash is one of the most recognizable rock guitarists of all time. When it was time to create a line of signature pedals, he turned to his friends at Dunlop. Slash took time out of rehearsals for his upcoming Apocalyptic Love tour […]
