San Francisco’s legendary venue Slim’s was packed wall-to-wall this weekend with folks who came to show their love for Jason Becker. The sold out festival was a benefit for him and his battle with ALS, and the lineup was stacked with guitar luminaries, his close friends, who came to pay him tribute.
Joe Satriani headlined, with former Cacophony bandmate and former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman making a surprise appearance onstage. Other performers included the legendary Steve Lukather, Greg Howe, Michael Lee Firkins, Ritchie Kotzen, Night Ranger’s Jeff Watson, and our own Bryan Kehoe’s Kehoe Nation.
The crowd was teeming with artists–No Doubt’s Adrian Young, Faith No More’s Billy Gould, James Deprato from Chuck Prophet’s band, legendary luthier Gary Brawer were just some of the folks we spotted.
Check out Greg Howe stepping on the Buddy Guy Signature Wah.
Dunlop put together a pedal board that was signed by all of the guitar luminaries who performed that night, and we’ll put it up for auction so that the proceeds go to Jason himself. We’ll have that link when the auction goes up. We also provided custom imprint picks and tins at the show.
Jason Becker continues to inspire all of us 20 years after losing the ability to play guitar, continuing to write his musical art. It was an absolute honor for Dunlop to sponsor a benefit for him.
Check out Jason’s website where you can check out his music and donate to him and his favorite charities.
