Jane Says, Been Caught Stealing, Stop—who doesn’t love the energetic rock sounds of Jane’s Addiction? So what does the bassist of the band that’s been so influential to the Alternative Rock scene use to get the sound he wants? In the recent September issue of Bass Player Magazine, Eric Avery of Jane’s Addiction mentioned using the MXR M288 Bass Octave Deluxe as a major part of his sound.
“I use the MXR octave pedal the most, because there are several occasions when I’m playing an octave higher than a bass normally would, and I find I’m missing some of the low end. Poor tracking is what kept me from using octave pedals in the past, but the MXR pedal tracks really well.” – Eric Avery (pg. 26 of Bass Player Magazine; Sep. 2009 Edition)

Besides the M288, he also mentions using the MXR Micro Amp and MXR Bass DI+ on his board.
