I would love for it to be Andy Cohen from Silkworm–he earned the nickname “The Hebrew Hendrix” for his noisy, blood-filled solos with that band.  Check out the song “LR72″ from their Italian Platinum album.

Unfortunately, he probably won’t be.  It’ll probably be like Joe Bonamassa or someone like that

Gotta go with Ace Frehley. Love him or hate him, he’s STILL inspiring people to pick up the guitar.

  • http://www.facebook.com/k.dactle Kyle Luce

I would most definetly say Joe Satriani. It seems like now-a-days the legends seem to be the more technical guitarists instead of just the once in the world renowned rock groups. He has been huge in these times.

I have to go with Eric Gales as well. Seen him live a few times and it is just
amazing. Personally heard him play legit country, outside jazz, straight shred,
he can do it all, and he doesn’t even think about it……just flows out of his
    pores…lol

Gotta stick with Mr. Jimi Hendrix!

  • Kyle

the popular guitarists like John Mayer and Orianthi today are really popular and everyone knows who they are. The classic guitar players like Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix for sure. But there are a lot of extraordinary guitar players that aren’t as mainstream, but still provide eargasms! Eric Gales is at the top of my list, along with Joe Bonamassa. Robert Randolph is one of Rolling stones top 100 guitar players but the majority of people I meet have never heard of him and his awesome sound!

Eric Gales is the most memorable guitarist of his generation. He is fresh, explosive, new, retro, and totally unpredictable, all at once. He is a powerhouse musician we have all come to love and respect, and we have only seen the tip of the iceberg so far.

  • Cindy Mack

    Guthrie Govan is a virtuoso.

  • http://twitter.com/LoKeSeaMetal Arturo Calatayud

Guthrie Govan. I’m sure that he will be in the future one of the best guitarist because his technique is innovative and perfect.
Yngwie Malmsteen,Satriani or Vai are pretty goods but they are now legends. Guthrie will be the future’s legend.

  • http://tshirtwebsites.com rockinrye

Easily Buckethead.  Anybody who confuses/annoys Flea AND Slash by virtue of his existence & refusal to sell out belongs among the greats

  • MuddyGuy

Pat Martino if we are talking Jazz Guitar !!

Guthrie Govan should be the one because not only he is unbelievably technical and fast but also he’s music is full of soul and passion. And he alongside Mr Becker are the most influential guitarist for me personally.
