Better. Faster. Stronger. We’ve developed a new pick in our powerhouse Ultex line that was made for high attack speeds and ultimate shredding. Based on a coveted, vintage tortoise-shell pick in our collection, the new Ultex Sharp has a rigid body that tapers into a thinner, sculpted tip for greater control and speed. The pick’s seamless, contoured edge offers a variety of playing surfaces and tones. Virtually indestructible, it delivers crisp tone and a quick-release attack. Click on the link below to read about it in the June 2009 edition of Guitar World, voted one of the top 25 coolest products of 2009.

How do these compare with Ultex Jazz III’s?
Are they more like an Ultex version of a Stubby?

  • Dunlop News

The Ultex Jazz III’s are the same size as standard Jazz III’s, except they’re made out of Ultex material. The Ultex sharps are the same size as standard Ultex picks but with a sharp, rigid tip that helps for greater control and speed. Hope this clears things up!

If these were Jazz III sized, I’d be all over them. My only problem with the Ultex Jazz III’s is that the edges are a little too “soft.”

Thanks! They seem to be more akin to an Ultex Big Stubby.

I love the Ultex Jazz III’s, and I’m looking foward to the Max Grip Jazz III’s.

These look interesting I’ve been looking into getting some Jazz III’s but maybe I’ll give these a go first

I agree with BMart – the Ultex Jazz III’s are great except the edges are too soft, resulting in too quiet/mellow an attack. I love the tone and volume that comes from the Ultex Standard 1.14 but that pick is a little too big. If they could make the Ultex Sharp in a smaller size than the Ultex Standard, then they’d probably be exactly what I’m looking for.

    The
Ultex Sharp is designed to mimic the feel of an actual vintage tortiseshell
    pick from the Dunlop collection.
