We’re extremely proud to announce that Dunlop Manufacturing founder Jim Dunlop was presented with the GuitarGuitar Musical Instrument Award at the 2012 Scottish Music Awards, the Tartan Clefs, on November 19th. Jim traveled to Glasgow, his hometown, to take part in the show and accept the award. The annual event is a fundraiser for Nordoff-Robbins, a charitable organization that focuses on musical therapy to help treat a variety of illnesses in children and adults across the UK.
“Jim received his award to rapturous applause with the entire audience raising giant plectrums to salute him,” reports GuitarGuitar’s Adam Pope. “Some of the bands playing the event even mentioned Jim in the acceptance of their awards, such as one of Glasgow’s hottest new bands—Kassidy, who acknowledged they wouldn’t be anywhere without Jim Dunlop! The night was a huge success, with almost £100,000 raised for Nordoff-Robbins.”
