Hey all you metal heads! The first reviews  for our new MXR Fullbore Metal Distortion pedal are out. This compact but powerful device is all you need to unleash the most devastating contemporary metal guitar tones ever heard. The FullBore pedal turbo-charges your guitar signal with lethal amounts of ultra high gain. This is combined with a built-in Noise Gate to knock out the noise associated with extreme gain levels while also adding definition and tightness to syncopated metal riffs. Extensive EQ controls, with Bass, Mid, sweepable Mid-Freq and Treble knobs let you sculpt your tone with fiendish precision. The additional Scoop switch provides an instant high and low frequency boost that’ll rumble the room while also adding clarity.

“The new for 2009 MXR Fullbore Metal M-116 Distortion unleashes viscous metal tones in compact case. If you are looking for over the top distortion with sweepable mids and a built in gate the MXR Fullbore M-116 Metal Distortion was made for you.”

looks pretty cool though the tone is gives you is kind of the same every time they played a segment. I would haved like to see more epically with the frequency knob it has, i bet it can do more.

i just dont know about the scoop button the if its anything like the scoop button on the dime pedal it just more volume, you can just lower the mids on it and get the same effect.

what i do like is the noise gate though i dont how effective it is, i dont care cause i dont use one.

Every problem i had with multi-effects or pedals like these are the sustain. which is why i resorted back to my amp heads distortion.

id like to try one and get the full feel of it,if its worth getting.

a great pedal to buy but without the tone drain that most floor proccesors and at a way cheaper price. i love it and want to buy more

First thoughts after watching 15 seconds, sounds like shit.
Thoughts after watching the whole video; sounds like Satan!

This thing is insane! This will be replacing all of my Bad Monkey pedal and the overdrive channel on my amp.

  • Thomas Anderson

Way too much hissy highend. it’s essentially an expensive metal zone.

  • Mog

as Thomas said very similar to the metal zone. But not exactly, they function the same but there is some difference in the tone. I own 2 metal zones, one i use and one spare i got cheap second hand for back up if my original breaks. But on listening to the demo if I did not have a spare metal zone I would seriously consider grabbing one of these MXR metal pedals. I would have to test it first in store but I liked the tones that it is capable of producing in this video.

I would have liked to see WHEN the gate cuts off your notes while holding a note down to see if it CLIPS OFF an important part of something. Also, it does sound pretty good, Im using a DF-7 Dist. Factory but just for added SUSTAIN…My amp distortion can’t be beat, AT100 B-52…All Tube warm and CUTS HARD…the STRAT demo with the SCOOP sounded scratchy and not warm…where’s the MESA FEEL..? I wonder if u could dial it in …Overall a GREAT LEAD SOUND…and if you use MARSHALL, you better have a crapload of pedals cause they are DRY, AND NO SUSTAIN or DYNAMICS AT ALL…

this sound is familure like something LINE6 came out with and even some of the older pre-amps of the late 90′s, but this is sssoooo much cooler and I never imagained a noise gate on a stompbox, damn! MXR was my 1st.distortion pedal, still have that copper/orange destortion box, looks likes another walll of sound I’ve got to own! IT”S ABOUT TIME MXR CAME BACK WITH A DISTORTION BOX,

  • Michael Valle Jr

it’s about time that MXR came back to the forefront of distortion stompbox leaders, the noise gate on the unit is kick-ass alone n the sounds that are cumming of my speakers is incredible, damn…………MXR was my 1st. distortionbox, looks like i’m going back.
