We started with a simple question: What should a great flatwound string actually sound like? After years of refining the answer with working musicians, we hunkered down in the String Lab and landed on a voice that captures the classic sound of flats with the playability and clarity that modern players expect.
Even with a 5-string set, your hands set the character. Dig in with a pick for a nice round honk and clear, articulate notes. Throw in a palm mute and it's pure vintage thump. Fingerstyle gives you a full, warm tone with a touch more definition than you'd expect from broken-in flats. That sensitivity to your attack extends all the way down to the low B string.
